His ancestor the Baron de Breteuil was an important figure in the life of Marie-Antoinette and the château contains personal items given to the Baron, including an exquisite jewelled table which was a gift from Marie-Antoinette’s mother.
The Baron was a trusted advisor to Marie-Antoinette during the “affair of the necklace” and a wonderful recreation of this famous necklace is also on display.
